How to backup you outlook file and restore it in a new machine

Hi, here i am explain about backup and restore in to new machine.what is the purpose of this means if your working in a company you need to upgrade your client pc to windows 8(now he is using windows 7) how you can backup and restore ?

Microsoft outlook,noe your configured a mail already(how to configure gmail to outlook refer my blog).Outlook if we are configured a mail,then the outlook software automatically create a .pst file(that is the backup file).

.pst means personal storage table. Personal Storage Table (.pst) is an open proprietary file format used to store copies of messages, calendar events, and other items within Microsoft software  such as Microsoft Exchange Client, Windows Messaging, and Microsoft Outlook. The open format is controlled by Microsoft who provide free specifications and free irrevocable technology licensing.

1.Open your microsoft outlook--->>Goto tools

2.Go to Account setting--->>you can see data file--->>note the data file location default it is in c:/users/jenson/appdata/local/microsoft/outlook/outlook.pst

3.copy the folder outlook

4.Configure your new client machine and go to tools-->>account setting -->>data files and add the copied datafile(outlook.pst) in to the data file

5.Click on that data file and set as default

6.Restart the outlook

**NOTE :always save the data file in D:/ or some other drives.if C: is corrupted also we can easily get our .pst file.
